Wow, our first ever gig in the greenhouse was a huge success!
On Tuesday 10th June we were treated to an evening of jazz in our greenhouse with the trio Gustaf, Frederick & Isabel. The trio were formed in the Autumn of 2015 in Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland and consist of Araxi Isabel Karnusian on tenor saxophone, Björn Gustaf Meyer on bass and Park Stickney on harp.
They’ve worked together for many years and their repertoire has evolved into magical original compositions. We were taken on a jazz journey full of cascading melodies and improvisation (with a guest appearance from a very special violinist), and the atmosphere in the greenhouse was wonderful.
Park is arguably one of the world’s greatest jazz harpists, and a great front-man for the trio, explaining the inspiration behind each musical piece, entertaining us with anecdotes, and also solving a Rubik’s cube whilst playing!
Our courtyard area was open throughout the gig, serving a selection of drinks, and the weather was absolutely perfect, so our guests could enjoy wandering around Babylon with a perfectly chilled drink.
We’re hoping to hold more gigs in the greenhouse, so sign up to our mailing list and keep and eye on our social media for details!
