The Restorers

Welcome to Babylon Eco Centre’s “The Restorers”

The Restorers is an onsite repair service, a sustainable solution to breathe life back into the items you treasure most. Much like the concept of the BBC’s The Repair Shop, our service focuses on restoring, repairing or reusing items rather than throwing away and buying new.

As well as general repairs our in-house specialities include:

  • Woodwork
    Furniture & all other items
  • Metalwork
    Welding fabrication etc
  • Vintage Items
    Tools, bicycles & toys
  • Electricals
    Lamps, lighting & other items
  • Signwriting
    House signs, A-Boards etc.

Most of the work is done on site in the workshop. If it’s not something we can help with we have a network of specialists we can recommend. For example we know a wonderful local upholsterer who we can put you in touch with.

Our ethos is to try and preserve and repair rather than replace. This can be subjective, so we will always discuss with you at the start and during projects. We are happy to do this either in person or photos can be sent to start the conversation and see what is the best way forward.

If you would like us to look at your restoration item please get in touch via the form or by emailing us at therestorers@babylon.eco or come and see us in the workshop. From there we can discuss costs & a timescale before starting.

Examples of previous projects

Below is a small selection of our previous work, we also update our Instagram page regularly, follow us at the_restorers_babylon.

Windsor Lantern by William Suggs

These lanterns were of very high quality, a few have been discovered on the Babylon site in various states of repair.

The first was restored and is now on top of the lampost by the carpark.

Chair repairs

We have had a wide selection of chairs coming in needing repair.
Wooden ones needing legs fixing and metal ones needing welding back together.

All have been done sympathetically following discussion with the owner.
