Winnie-The-Pooh hunt

Ashdown forest is famous for being the inspiration for A.A. Milne’s Winnie the Pooh stories. Many of the locations featured in the stories are within easy reach of our location: Pooh sticks bridge, Gills Lap (Galleon’s Lap) and Pooh, piglet and Owl’s houses! Ashdown Forest Centre

Ashdown Forest is a 6,500-acre protected heathland and woodland area within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

If you’re looking to explore the area then the information barn at the Ashdown Forest Centre is a great place to pick up maps and guides and is located approx.5 miles from Babylon.

The Clay Studio

Our friends at The Clay Studio provide a wide range of pottery classes, workshops and events. Their spacious and bright studio is located at Barnsgate Manor Vineyard, approx. 2 miles from our location.

Bluebell railway

Bluebell railway is an historic steam railway with steam engines on display, a museum and a heritage railway line.

Situated approx. 9 miles from our location, you can easily visit us for some delicious food and drink after a morning spent travelling on a steam train.

Nutley Windmill

Over 300 years old, Nutley Windmill is the only working open-trestle post mill in the country and is approx 2 miles from Babylon.

There are easy walks from Friends car park to the windmill, and several open days throughout the year where you can see inside and talk to the team of volunteers who look after this wonderful piece of Sussex heritage.

The Airmans Grave

Even though it’s called a grave there isn’t anyone buried here. It’s a memorial to the crew of a Second World War bomber which came down here after returning from a night attack on Germany.

Hollies car park is approx. 3 miles from us, so enjoy the lovely walk down to the memorial…with tea and cake at Babylon afterwards?

Mousehall vineyard

Mousehall

Mousehall is a family-run, sustainable Distillery and Winery situated between Mayfield and Wadhurst in East Sussex.

They offer distillery tours and are approx. 12 miles from our location. We also serve their delicious gin and vodka botanicals here in our restaurant.

You can find Hidden Spring Vineyard in the village of Horam which is approx. 14 miles from Babylon.

We serve their fine wine in our restaurant, but if you’d like to see where it’s made, book a tour and tasting experience at their vineyard.
