Our beautiful new gates

If you have visited us in the last few months you’ll probably have noticed that there’s been a lot of activity on site. We’ve been making improvements to our courtyard area (more on that to come soon) as well as installing new planters in the Nursery area.

One of the most visible improvements we’ve made is to remove the old trellis work around the outside dining area which originally provided the support for the old gate and also prevented deer from wandering in at night and eating our plants!

We still need to ensure that the local deer don’t enjoy a midnight feast at Babylon, and so we have installed two beautiful solid oak gates which have been repurposed from the home of one of our owners. These frame our entrance area, whilst also allowing the outside eating area to be completely opened up now that the trellis has gone, meaning that if you are sitting outside you still get the views across our site towards the downs.

The hard work from all the team – our owners, plus Henry and Austin – mean that once spring arrives our site is going to look even better than it did last year.

We’ve also found a new home for these two hippos. Made from cast iron they are now a permanent feature on our outdoor patio.

We’ve still got lots of projects in the pipeline, and we’ll keep updating our news area and our social media so that you can watch our progress.
