Update: Lorien flowers will now be opening this weekend – 27th July!
We are pleased to announce that Lorien Flowers will be opening their doors for business here at Babylon.
Victoria is the owner of Lorien flowers, and working with flowers full-time has been her dream, here’s what she has to say about starting her business here with us.
“Whenever I have a spare moment, I am always in my garden, fighting to keep my vegetable patch and greenhouses in order! My passion for flowers goes beyond just their beauty; I enjoy learning about their uses and meanings, and over the years I have developed a love for native species and the stunning flowers that thrive here in Sussex and Kent.
For as long as I can remember, I have been gathering plants from my garden for arrangements, and love being able to use flowers not typically seen in bouquets – I believe they truly bring the home and garden together. This has been the seed of my floristry career – creating beautiful hand-tied arrangements from the bounty of our gardens.

My childhood played a huge part in my love of plants and flowers. My mum’s use of local produce and seasonal fruit and veg when I was growing up made me realise how much there is right on our doorstep. Along with spending time outside in the woods and fields with my dogs and horses, this has led to a deep appreciation of native plants and flowers, and I am passionate about showcasing the plethora of beautiful flora that sometimes goes unnoticed, hidden amongst the varieties that we see from elsewhere.

I am keenly aware of the importance of minimising our impact on the earth. I try to lead a life that prioritises local sources and produces as little waste as possible. This philosophy is something I am committed to bringing into Lorien flowers. As far as possible, I want to have as small an environmental footprint as I can.
Three years ago, I was lucky enough to move to the Ashdown Forest with my family and our dogs. This move inspired me to take the plunge and turn my passion for flowers into my profession. During this time Babylon opened, and it felt like fate when they offered me a space to set up shop. I am incredibly excited to see where life takes me next with Lorien and look forward to meeting Babylon’s friendly patrons!
Thank you for joining me on this beautiful journey and for all the support that I have been given. I can’t wait to share the joy of flowers with you all!”
